If we aim to establish a more sustainable food system, school cafeterias are a great starting place. On this conference, we will go through different countries and realities in order to see how they are reacting to shared challenges regarding school food programs: minimising waste, reducing the consumption of animal proteins and increasing the consumption of fresh and local foods.
The conference will start with presentations perform by the following experts on this feeding question: prof. Donald Bundy, executive head of the Global Research Consortium for School Health and Nutrition; Geraldine Gilbert, principal strategist of the Forum For the Future; and Cecilia Rocha, member of the International Panel of Experts on Sustainable Food Systems. We will finish the day with the round table “Local Perspectives for Global Challenges”, that will draw conclusions.
The event will be done online, and it will be possible to follow it in both Catalan and English (simultaneous interpretation). A time frame will be reserved for the public to participate.
About the project “Climate Action to the Table”
This project consists of a series of conferences that lead the attending audience to learn and to think about our current food systems. It also asks the public to participate and to act in order to transform those systems.
The NGOs associated with the project are Fundesplai, Umanotera (Slovenia) and Fifty-Fifty (Greece).
