The Balance project, aiming to promote mental health among young people, begins its implementation phase this October with the leisure centres of the Catalan Federation of Esplai. This participatory process will culminate in the Iberian Mental Health Festival.
Activities for young people, families and educational teams
This stage includes:
- Participatory dynamics with children and adolescents.
- Training sessions aimed at families and leisure monitors.
- The Iberian Mental Health Festival
Through these actions we seek to raise awareness, train and connect all the agents involved in supporting the mental health of young people.
Alliances in Europe
A key moment to kick off this new phase was the members’ meeting in Coimbra (21 and 22 October), where we met:
- Fundesplai
- Catalan Federation of Recreation
- Ajuda i Esperança Foundation
- Caritas Coimbra
- Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Coimbra
During the meeting the partners validated the materials developed so far, planned the next steps, and proposed new actions to work together in the promotion of the mental health of young people.
We partners learned about inspiring initiatives of Cáritas Coimbra, such as the CATL Sílvia Gai, a daily esplai linked to the school, and the Bairro da Rosa Social Center.
In addition, Fundesplai presented the Balance project at the conference Rethink: new ways of addressing mental health in young people, organized by the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Coimbra, where experiences and reflections were shared with other European initiatives.
