At just 12 years old, Francisco Javier Vera Manzanares is a benchmark for climate activism and the defence of dignified life in his home country, Colombia. Vera Manzanares has conducted events that extend locally, nationally and internationally, and also has given lectures in Latin America and other parts of the world.
In addition, Vera Manzanares founded the environmental movement “Guardianes por la vida” (Guardians for Life), a platform that brings together more than 500 children in Colombia. They aim to encourage leadership and promote environmental awareness. Francisco has recently published his first book, Pregúntale a Francisco: ¿Qué es el cambio climático? (Ask Francisco: What is climate change?), which targets children from the age of 5 and aims to provide tools to deal with the climate crisis.
