TheFundació Catalana del Esplai promotes and participates in the campaign of the Barcelona City Council “We eat it all” campaignwhich takes place in the noon time of 5 schools.
The project, coordinated by Agenda 21 of the Barcelona City Council, aims to analyze and study the degree of waste of five foods commonly found in school menus: bread, yogurt, meat, fish and potatoes, in order to carry out an awareness campaign on waste and to know the ecological footprint of these foods.
Children as protagonists
One week of each month, the children, with the help of the monitors, study a food product and, through a series of questions, observe their food consumption: When have we thrown away a product? How much does it cost? How much do we all waste? How do we avoid waste?
Currently, the study is in the second week of the project and the children have been able to observe the bread and yogurt, learn about the origin of the product, its uses and properties, reflect and seek proposals for responsible consumption.
This initiative, moreover, coincides with the campaign.
“No food in the trash!” promoted by the Foundation and the Catalan Federation of Esplai on the same subject.
