On November 17, the EMAS Club with the support of the Department of Environment and Housing of the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded the EMAS 2010 prizes, which recognize the efforts in environmental management made by organizations, and in the category of Best Environmental Statement has awarded a special mention to the Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai.
The EMAS Club is a private, non-profit association formed by companies and other organizations from different sectors and sizes that have in common the desire for environmental improvement, materialized with the participation in the Community Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), whose scope includes, at least, a center located in Catalonia. The Fundació Catalana del Esplai is part of the EMAS Club.
Evaluating environmental management
EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) is a voluntary environmental management tool for companies and other organizations to assess, improve and publicize their environmental performance.
The jury evaluated a total of 17 applications in three categories of participation (Best Environmental Statement, Best Stakeholder Engagement Action and Best Environmental Implementation) and gave a very positive evaluation of all the initiatives presented. The winner of the Best Environmental Statement was Delta Tècnic SA.
