With the Fundesplai summer activities campaign, this 2023 we plan to offer more than 80,000 places, 1,100 rounds of activities between camps, camps, work camps and family camps, and reach 8,000 scholarships and grants. All the activities are organized by Fundesplai and the 133 esplais and leisure projects that are part of it and with the collaboration of different organizations.
Among the outstanding activities we will find cots for the youngest children and summer camps such as the one organized in the Museum of History of Barcelona, where children can discover the secrets of the city. We will also do camps in the middle of nature to enjoy environments such as the Pyrenees or the Guilleries.
As a novelty, we will carry out two rounds of Technology Camps where young people will approach artificial intelligence and drones in a critical way, thanks to the collaboration of the UPC and El Periódico. In addition to the usual colonies in nature. Another thematic option is the Campus of Journalism and Music, which we do with Ara, for all those children who want to live the process of creating a song.
We will also do marine biology camps, where girls and boys will learn how to contribute to protecting the sea, and work camps, which combine the recovery of an area of social or natural importance with recreational activities, among other proposals.
One of our priorities for this summer campaign will be to ensure that all children and young people can enjoy educational leisure activities during the holidays. Casals, camps and camps represent for children and young people in vulnerable situations an opportunity for personal development, live unforgettable experiences, live together and enjoy nature.
For this reason, for more than a decade we have promoted the solidarity campaign “Let’s make possible a summer for everyone!” through which funds are raised and scholarships awarded to families who are in vulnerable situations. In 2022, we awarded 7,995 scholarships and grants for summer activities, 25% more than in 2021, thanks to the collaboration of public administrations, organizations, companies and individuals.
The summer campaign bears the slogan “Let’s make a better world possible!” because it seeks that all children and young people become activists of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through recreational activities such as games, outings, workshops, citizen science, sports, gymkhanas… While having fun, they also learn to protect nature, get to know biodiversity better, develop their critical spirit and commit to coexistence and sustainability.
