The activist for peace and human rights Nadia Ghulam, also an educator at Fundesplai, has been awarded by the Reus Reading Centre and the Josep Vidal i Lecha Association. The Reus entity has awarded Ghulam for the 39th Josep and Liesel Vidal Peace Memorial 2023.

The objective of this award is to promote and strengthen initiatives in favor of peace and disarmament that promote individuals or groups. In this sense, Nadia Ghulam is a reference in peace activism and the defense, especially, of women’s rights in Afghanistan, her country of origin. For this reason he has published the book ‘The Land of Wingless Birds‘, a story that becomes a metaphor for the consequences of the war and the refugee crisis that Ghulam has experienced in Afghanistan.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday 6 October at the Centre de Lectura in Reus.
