A Brazilian delegation led by the governor of the state of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa, visited Fundesplai. The objective of this day was to share and exchange the social methodology of the Demà Jove project, which is already being developed by Fundesplai in Catalonia with 300 young people, and which is carried out in the state of Tocantins with the participation of 3,000 young people. In this way, the initiative, which works for the labor insertion of young people with little training or work experience, grows and strengthens.
The event held at the headquarters of Fundesplai was attended by the delegation of the state of Tocantins and members of the Brazilian entity Renapsi and Fundesplai. Authorities from the Generalitat and the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat also attended.
Josep Gassó, president of Fundesplai -which leads the Demà Jove a Catalunya program-, highlighted the work of the entity “working on the inclusion of children and young people in society”. He added that Demà Jove “has become a network that brings together people from different parts of the world working for the employment of young people“. For her part, Paula Mèlich, delegate of the Government of Catalonia in Brazil, stressed the word opportunity, because programs like this serve to “prioritize young people and give them new opportunities“.
In addition Anna Martin, Deputy Mayor for Social and Community Action of the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat, has emphasized the need “to bet on young people so that they have dignified and egalitarian lives, through work, training and accompaniment”, the pillars on which the program is based.
On the other hand, Wanderlei Barbosa, governor of Tocantins, has pointed out how this program “helps young people in their labor insertion, especially those who live in a situation of vulnerability.” Adair Meira, founder of Renapsi and promoter of Demà Jove, also dedicated a few words to the audience, who spoke about the alliances created between Brazil and several European countries, to promote “human talent, especially young people”.
Susana Diaz, deputy director of active employment policies of the Generalitat de Catalunya, among other representatives, also attended.
The event also served to put on the table the organization of future exchanges between young people from Brazil and Catalonia, so that it is an enriching experience for both parties. In this line, young people who are currently in the project have also taken the floor to share their learning, not only in training and work, but also as a vital and cultural experience that will help them from now on in the future.
