Managers, monitors and young volunteers of esplais that are part of the Federation discussed and exchanged experiences to promote volunteering in the entities in the meeting “Volunteering in the esplai” that took place on Friday, January 24 at the Club del Esplai Bellvitge (L’Hospitalet).
In addition to those responsible for the Federation, representatives of 14 entities participated: Grup d’Entitats El Vendrell Educació i Lleure (El Vendrell), Esplai La Barretina (Sant Boi de Llobregat), Club d’Esplai Bellvitge and Centre del Esplai Can Serra (el Hospitalet), Associació Juvenil Campiquipugui (La Riera de Gaià), Esplai Endinsa’t (Vilanova del Camí), Grup del Esplai Espurnes (Esplugues de Llobregat), Centro de Recreo Infantil y Juvenil Mowgli and Esplai Fontsanta-Fatjó (Cornellà de Llobregat), Centre del Esplai Giravolt (Masquefa), El Grup de Polinyà (Polinyà), Club del Esplai Montmella Cases – Can Vidalet (Hospitalet – Esplugues de Llobregat), Club del Esplai Tricicle (Sant Joan Despí) and Grup del Esplai Uraka (Begues).
Commitment and project
During the meeting, the current regulations governing volunteering were reviewed and topics such as the preparation of a volunteer plan, how to encourage the commitment of volunteers and good practices contributed by the esplais were analyzed. Among them, they highlighted the welcome projects, we bet on young people, Telefónica’s corporate volunteering project…
Among the reflections that arose during the event, they highlighted the fact that it is necessary to know how to place the volunteer in the right place and encourage his/her participation in the entity’s projects in order to reinforce his/her commitment. In addition, it was highlighted that there is a growing number of volunteers, ranging from young people, older people with extensive work experience, company workers, families, etc.
The idea for this meeting arose at the last Federation Assembly, as a result of the work undertaken by the discussion group on volunteering.
