During the months of May and June the Tresca team continues to activate the work processes that make mentoring possible as a real tool, in the Tresca Jove projects of Fundesplai and in the Tresca Europe of the Esplai Foundation.
Mentoring is a social intervention tool that promotes relationships between volunteers, who offer themselves to provide individual support to people who are in a situation of social vulnerability:
- It brings people from different social groups closer.
- Both parties, mentor and young person, show commitment to share their experience and knowledge.
- Reinforces social cohesion.
This year we have carried out dissemination actions, and we will continue to carry them out throughout the year, so that people who are interested in mentoring can know the project, access all the information, and finally, they can commit to the project and to the young people, becoming volunteer mentors.
In this sense, we have activated the meetings between people who are already Mentors, most of whom are part of VAE, Volunteers in Business Consultancy (http://www.vaeassessoriaempresarial.org/), and therefore have experience and track record in the project; and young people who are carrying out the TRESCA project during these months: mentors and young people shared symbolic moments in two presentation sessions, where bonds began to be woven to begin on the path of mentoring together.
The mentoring project is growing in Tresca, both in the number of young people who take advantage of this tool, and the number of volunteer mentors involved.
During these weeks, meetings are held between mentors and Tresca’s technical team, as well as meetings between mentors and young people who have already specified their personal work plan, and who have taken advantage of mentoring.
The Tresca Jove aims to promote the personal development and social and labor integration of young people between 18 and 25 years of age in a situation of social vulnerability, through accompaniment, training and a first work experience in the world of leisure. The Tresca Europe project consists of the transfer of the Tresca Jove inclusion program of the Fundesplai to social entities in Spain, Portugal and Italy and has the participation of 350 young people in the period 2013-2015.
Before the end of June we will launch the mentoring dissemination campaign, in order to incorporate people who are interested in being mentors into the project.
