The great annual celebration of Fundesplai served to start the campaign of summer camps and camps. This year it is expected to increase the scholarships by 25% and offer 80,000 places.
From Fundesplai we have once again organized in person, after two years, Festa Esplai, the great event of the entity that welcomed thousands of children, young people, monitors and families from all over Catalonia. This 2022 we have celebrated the 34th edition of Festa Esplai and served to kick off the summer campaign of colonies, camps, camps and family holidays of Fundesplai and close the course of esplais and schools.
After two years of not being able to do it due to the pandemic, this time it was held again in Parc Nou, in El Prat de Llobregat, where thousands of people enjoyed more than 50 recreational and educational activities for all ages. In addition, this year we have released logo and with the motto “Let’s make a better world possible“.
The Festa Esplai sought that all children, young people, families, monitors, etc. become activists of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through recreational activities where, while having fun, they could also learn to protect nature, know biodiversity better, develop their critical spirit and commit themselves to coexistence and sustainability.
In this regard, he highlighted the institutional act in which they were Exemplify the actions taken for children and young people to make a better world possible, especially those related to the culture of peace. The event, led by Nadia Ghulam, peace activist, refugee from the Afghan conflict and social educator at Fundesplai; It had the participation of different children who planted seeds for peace.
Also taking part in the event were Violant Cervera, Minister of Social Rights of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Roger Torrent, Minister of Enterprise and Labour of the Generalitat; Pilar Eslava, Deputy Mayor of the Education and Culture Area of El Prat City Council; and Josep Gassó, president of Fundesplai, among other authorities.
In speeches, Ghulam called for peace and recalled open conflicts that compromise the well-being of so many people, especially children, around the world. Gassó picked up Nadia Ghulam’s reflections and expressed: “We are committed to watering and caring for the values necessary for peace to grow through our work in leisure education”.
On the other hand, Slavic He highlighted: “This festival is the icing on the cake of many activities that are carried out in the day to day from the esplais, the camps, the colonies and this is a firm commitment that we have to believe from the institutions and entities. In our leisure time we must all work to make equity really possible”. Finally, Cervera she added: “Peace, love, inclusion, respect, leaving no one behind, intergenerational work… These are many of the values that entities such as Fundesplai have in their DNA, the DNA we want as a country to be able to continue educating our children and young people in leisure, and in intergenerational work with parents. Values that should help us build a better world”.

This year, as a novelty, Festa Esplai included a space for the exhibition of cooperative and solidarity food in which different local entities related to food participated. The exhibition was one more of the activities that this year we promote from Fundesplai related to sustainable and healthy food, such as the exhibition “Menja. Actua. Impacta”, or the educational proposal “Eating changes the world” that takes place in esplais and schools.
The participants of Festa Esplai were able to do Activities to learn in Eat healthily, to discover the fauna and flora of urban parks, workshops to make small gardens at home, recreational circuits that allow you to learn about the water cycle, games to promote recycling… as well as different musical and dance performances and a children’s entertainment group.
