What fish will we consume in a few years? Are there responsible consumption alternatives? The impact of climate change in the Mediterranean Sea is causing an increase in the presence of thermophilic fish, which are fishing species that are benefiting from sea warming.
Thermophiles can become a great alternative to fresh and local fish at an affordable price and, in addition, their environmental impact is very low. Making them known and making them visible in the market would mean a significant change in the sector. The fishing pressure on very overexploited species such as sardines, anchovies, tuna or tuna would loosen.

To bring us closer to this reality, the conference will feature Cristina Caparrós, doctor in chemistry, owner of the fishing boat l’Òstia and manager of the project “La Platjeta”, dedicated to the sale of fresh and local fish and seafood. Caparrós is also the daughter and granddaughter of fishermen from the Barceloneta district (Barcelona), and chairs the association of tourism and marine experiences Cap a Mar.
