This Wednesday, February 10, the new edition of the Fundesplai Solidarity Gymkhana was presented, the recreational and solidarity competition to obtain aid and scholarships for educational leisure activities, school canteen and educational reinforcement for children from families with social needs. The Gymkhana will begin in early March and end in October.
Víctor Martínez, coordinator of the Gymkhana, presented the event. During the first part, he took stock of the 2015 edition in which funds were raised for nearly 700 scholarships and presented the different winning teams.
Núria Valls, deputy general director of Fundesplai, thanked public administrations, entities and companies such as Cafès Novell, Cooperativa Falset-Marçà, Wala and International House for their collaboration in this initiative.
Subsequently, the 2016 edition of the Solidarity Gymkhana was presented, which this year will have hiking as its thematic axis. Thus, one of the main novelties will be the “Summits for children”: the participating teams will be able to make hills or peaks (of any level, from 40 meters are already useful!), which will be posted on a map on the Gymkhana website. In order to incorporate a summit on the map, teams must have obtained a minimum of 100 euros of fundraising, which will be used entirely for scholarships.
In addition, the Solidarity Gymkhana will have the usual activities organized by the teams (concerts, dinners, fairs …), as well as the II cycle of solidarity shows with top-level performances of all kinds.
