The end of the school year has kicked off this June 22 in the campaign of summer camps and summer camps of Fundesplai.
On Monday, June 22nd the doors of the first summer camps opened and on Thursday, July 25th the first bus left for the camps in the direction of Can Mateu (Vilanova de Sau). Both the children who are in the casal and those who are in the colonies are already enjoying these experiences of play, nature and long-awaited friendships after so many days of confinement.
In addition, in order to guarantee a happy and safe camp and summer camp campaign, the pedagogical teams and the people in charge of the Fundesplai camp houses are adapting the activities and equipment to adjust them to the hygienic-sanitary regulations and, at the same time, to give an educational and emotional response to the needs of the children.
Adaptations to the houses of colonies and farmhouses for Covid-19 prevention
Among the preventive adaptations that have been carried out in the 28 summer camps, shelters and camping grounds of Fundesplai as well as in the facilities where the summer camps are held, the following stand out: establishing a secure perimeter to restrict the passage of all persons who do not participate in the colonies or summer camps, controlling access and registration of symptoms, delimitation of spaces and circuits in the dining room and in the rooms, constant ventilation of spaces and establishment of personal hygiene routines with hydroalcoholic ice, constant hand cleaning, etc.
The importance of being able to enjoy the outdoors, in the middle of nature!
Together with the preventive measures inside the facilities, those responsible for Fundesplai emphasize the fact that the colonies prioritize outdoor activities, in privileged natural spaces. Here you can play again with your friends, breathe fresh air, sail in a canoe, swim in the pool, go through an adventure forest or practice archery; go on excursions or activities to improve the natural environment; make a bivouac… Many activities that they have not been able to perform during confinement.
The monitors are being trained and are adapting the activities
During the last two and a half months, the monitors of Fundesplai have been involved in accompanying and supporting the children through the networks. With the deconfinement, the more than 2,000 monitors who will be in charge of the summer activities of Fundesplai have participated in specific training in emotional education to detect and bring to the surface any fears or concerns that the children may have accumulated during the weeks of confinement. Likewise, many of these monitors have taken specific courses on on hygienic-sanitary measures to prevent Covid-19.

Solidarity campaign so that all children can go to the summer camps and summer camps
For Fundesplai, leisure education is a right and that is why it has always ensured that all children can participate.
Since 2011 Fundesplai organizes a campaign to raise funds to be able to grant scholarships and aid and ensure that no child is left out of the camps and summer camps for economic reasons. In the last year we were able to award 4,844 scholarships. However, this year the circumstances are doubly special, because if last year Catalonia 31.2% of children lived in poverty, the economic and social crisis that will result from the Covid-19 health crisis will make this situation much worse.
As of mid-June 2020, 4,228 scholarship applications have already been received 4,228 scholarship applications suggesting that many more will have applied by the end of the summer than last year.
For this reason, Fundesplai is giving a new impulse to the solidarity campaign, with an awareness campaign that includes advertisements in the press and television spots, to appeal to everyone to collaborate by making a donation through the website www.fundesplai.org.
