Fundesplai statement
We help refugees
Europe is facing its worst refugee crisis since World War II. Thousands of people fleeing war – and especially children, who must be given special protection – are suffering and need help.
Fundesplai, from its mission to ensure the well-being of children, young people and their families, joins the clamor of the different entities to ask the Government of Spain for a firm commitment to find solutions to the conflict and give urgent humanitarian response to this crisis, prioritizing children and victims of the conflict, as required by the Declaration and Convention on the Rights of the Child.
For Fundesplai, European migration and asylum policy must be based on legal and safe access routes and not just a border control policy. This policy should also include combating human trafficking networks and increasing resources in host countries to safely assist newcomers.
From Fundesplai we have already made ourselves available to the Government and the municipalities to contribute to guaranteeing the rights and well-being of refugees who are welcomed in our country, and especially of children. In this sense, we have already offered, among others, the possibility of having facilities that we manage to receive refugees when they arrive in Catalonia.
We also call on monitors, families, young people and children to express solidarity with refugees through the initiatives that are taking shape in the territory.
