On the morning of Wednesday, June 22, the first bus left for the camp that kicked off the campaign “Get Summer Right – A Summer for everyone!”  of Fundesplai. It is a group of 40 boys and girls from 4 to 10 years old with a group of 6 monitors from the Grup d’Esplai Espurnes, from Esplugues de Llobregat, who will spend five days in the holiday home that Fundesplai has in Montesquiu, Osona.

Coinciding with the start of the campaign, on the same Wednesday afternoon, the President of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, visited CENTRE ESPLAI, the headquarters of Fundesplai in El Prat de Llobregat, where he met with a representation of the Board of Trustees and the management team led by its president Josep Gassó. A group of girls who participate in the summer camp that takes place in CENTRE ESPLAI presented the president with a Fundesplai summer t-shirt for him and his two daughters.

Different media such as  TVE,  La VanguardiaEl Punt Avui  or  20 Minutos  echoed the exit

Get Summer right – A summer for everyone!

In this way, Fundesplai has launched the campaign “Get the Summer right-A summer for everyone!”. The double motto responds to the two objectives that are proposed. On the one hand, to offer activities of the highest educational quality to children, young people and families. And, on the other hand, to guarantee maximum equity: that no one is left without their right to enjoy a camp or centers.

As for the activities, this year Fundesplai offers, until September 12, about 1,200 rounds of activities between camps, centers, camps, routes and work camps. Also camps for families for the month of August. In total 85,473 places.  This represents a 15% increase over 2015.

To guarantee equity, Fundesplai promotes one more year the campaign of fundraising and awarding of scholarships. Looking ahead to this summer, the demand for aid is expected to increase. Fundesplai works to  award 5,300 scholarships, an amount that multiplies by five the number of scholarships awarded in 2011, the year in which the campaign was launched.

Everyone’s collaboration

In order to be able to grant these scholarships, Fundesplai initially has the funds contributed by the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Diputació de Barcelona and by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, through 0.7% of the IRPF for social purposes and entities such as the Probitas Foundation. In addition to these funds for scholarships and grants that Fundesplai channels directly, some of the 81 federated leisure centres also receive aid from their town councils or from the “la Caixa” Foundation’s Social Projects, through the ProInfancia programme. Overall, last year nearly one million euros were allocated to scholarships and grants.

However, in order to respond to growing needs, Fundesplai calls on individuals, companies and entities to collaborate by making contributions through the www.fundesplai.org website or by calling 93 551 17 71.
