It has been 12 years since Fundesplai opened our headquarters, CENTRO ESPLAI, in the neighborhood of Sant Cosme del Prat de Llobregat. During this time, we have multiplied the impact of our activities in favor of children, young people, families, the environment and the Third Sector. We have outgrown the space: more and more groups are coming to stay, the hostel has an average occupancy rate of 90% and there are no training rooms.
This need for space has coincided with the opportunity to acquire a site next to the facility. More than a year ago, based on the agreement and proposal of the Board of Trustees of Fundesplai, the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat processed an urban modification to make possible an expansion of CENTRE ESPLAI, which will allow the construction of more hostel rooms, a new training center and a multipurpose space. Incasol and the General Directorate of Urban Planning of the Generalitat de Catalunya have facilitated the operation and the Catalan Institute of Finance and Triodos Bank will finance part of the costs.
