On the occasion of the celebration of World Environmental Education Day, the EUKI project “Parem Taula pel Clima” organizes the conference “School agroecology: realities, challenges and perspectives”.
The meeting will feature the participation of Montse Escutia, agricultural engineer specialized in organic farming and coordinator of the training activities of the Vida Sana Association; and Germán Llerena, environmental educator of the Environment Area of the City Council of Sant Cugat (Barcelona). Both are authors of several reference publications on agroecology within the school environment.

The key points that will be discussed will be the New approaches to school agroecology as an educational proposal–considering the main challenges around the transformation of the school food system– and based on Real projects and experiences in schools. The importance of the Contact with local farmers, why do it and how to take advantage of it, from the same school garden.
School agroecology, understood as a field of educational research and action, promotes the participation of children and young people in the transformation of the school food system, taking into account its different areas (production, transformation, commercialization/exchange, consumption and waste management).
