About 500 people who are part of the educational teams of the schools where Fundesplai is present and the esplais of the Catalan Federation of Esplai participated last Saturday, September 19, in the virtual day of the beginning of the 2020-2021 course.

The session began with words from Cristina Rodríguez, General Director of Fundesplai, and Georgina Oliva, Secretary of Childhood, Adolescence and Youth of the Generalitat de Catalunya, who coincided in recognizing the work done by monitors during the summer and commended them for this very special course that has just begun where, more than ever, it will be necessary to guarantee the right to educational leisure for all children.
Afterwards, Cristina Monge, political scientist, executive advisor at ECODES and professor of sociology at the University of Zaragoza, gave the talk “Capgirar el mundo después de la pandemia, una oportunidad para repensar la educación” (Capturing the world after the pandemic, an opportunity to rethink education).
Monge emphasized that the pandemic has exacerbated many of the social, economic, health and environmental challenges that existed before the pandemic, and that the period that will open up once the pandemic is over may represent an opportunity. In this sense, he emphasized that the solidarity networking, which characterizes social organizations, can be fundamental in defining this new model of relations.

Subsequently, educators continued to work telematically on the course challenges.
On October 24, the second conference will be held, in a blended format, to train and learn about the new resources provided by the educational proposal NuSOS.
