On Saturday, October 24, Fundesplai organized the 2nd training day for educators from schools and esplais and teams from other Fundesplai projects where more than 500 people participated. The session, which was entirely online, aimed to present the new features of the 2nd year of NuSOS, the educational proposal for global citizenship, and to offer pedagogical and management resources to monitors.

The day began with presentations by Marc Alcaraz and Susagna Escardíbul, from Fundesplai, who detailed the new aspects of NuSOS for this course that will serve to reinforce the work on global citizenship with children and young people.
Afterwards, the round table “Interculturality and education, challenges to build an inclusive and cohesive society” took place, with the participation of professor Carlos Giménez, professor of social anthropology at the Autonomous University of Madrid; MíriamHatibi, writer, spokesperson for the Ibn Battuta Foundation and active member of the Muslim community; and Nadia Ghulam, educator, communicator and peace activist, moderated by José A. Ruiz, from Fundesplai.
Giménez stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the links of global citizenship to overcome the crisis we are suffering and, to this end, it is necessary to solve four major challenges: migration, social inequalities, pandemics and climate change. Hatibi, for his part, focused his remarks on calling for a truly intercultural education system as a way of fostering a sense of global citizenship. Ghulam closed the round table by calling for the importance of peace and human rights education for children and the need for greater administrative flexibility in the reception process for migrants.
The second part of the day consisted of workshops. 9 were organized on different aspects: “How are racial prejudices learned and how can we educate to combat them?” by Carme Diaby, “What is happening in the refugee camps in Lesbos?”, with the collaboration of entities that are in the field, “How can we educate for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?” by Marina Piquet, “Media and Social Networks: A ground for machismo?” led by Marc Alcaraz or Redesigning games in times of COVID with the specialist Oriol Ripoll, among others.
