The town of Santa Marta de Tormes, in Salamanca, hosted on the weekend of Friday 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 May the 9th “Young Connecting Meeting”, an event that brought together more than 200 young people from different autonomous communities who have participated this year in the program “Connect young people” promoted by Fundación Esplai and Microsoft with the support of public administrations such as the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality and social organizations.

The “Conecta Joven” is an intergenerational learning and service program in which adolescents at risk of exclusion are trained in a first phase in social and communication skills to later act as volunteer teachers of new technologies for adults in the digital divide.

“Super connected in slippers”

The event is entitled “Super Connected in Shoes”, and refers to everyday superheroes who help others with their social action.

During the meeting, young people were trained in different workshops on Internet safety, employability, apps and innovation and stereotypes and roles.

More than 300 young people

In this course of the “Conecta Joven” have participated 310 young people from 18 entities of different autonomous communities, which with their voluntary action have trained about 1,300 adults in computer science and Internet, which will allow them to improve their skills in new technologies and obtain better job opportunities and incorporation into the digital world.
