The educational programForest Management of the Farm of La Rectoria de la Selva is a didactic proposal of environmental education of Fundesplai that complements the Stewardship projects that are developed in the facilities of the entity and in those in which it has a framework of collaboration of custody with the owners.
The project consists of a set of activities, outings, recreational and educational days, aimed at young people from the entities of the Federació Catalana de l’Esplai between 12 and 18 years old. With a format of Service-Learning, young people know and learn everything related to the heritage value of pasture meadows, the forest exploitation of forests, their biodiversity and social and environmental actions that favor the conservation and recovery of this fundamental habitat for the management of the environments of Solsonès.
This year the project is developed during two weekends in October with several groups of young people from the Esplais de la Federació, in the house of La Rectoria de la Selva. The first activity took place on the weekend of October 17 and 18 and had the participation of 60 young people who carried out actions such as path signaling, nest boxes or micromammal trapping . The second took place on the weekend of October 24 and 25. In total, more than 130 young people participated.
In addition, this meeting space has been used to carry out “Explore Catalonia … and ACCIÓ”, a training proposal through which groups of young people will reflect on the proposed theme and participate in the creation of advertising spots to disseminate the natural and cultural landscape of the territory, and tutorials to promote good habits related to hiking (health and hygiene, the art of preparing a backpack, what to wear…).
