#JovesInTech, a proposal by Fundación Esplai in a network with the Federation and Fundesplai that aims to train young people at risk of social exclusion over 14 years of age and their families.
We start 2021 with#JovesInTech, a proposal by Fundación Esplai in a network with the Federation and Fundesplai that aims to train young people at risk of social exclusion over 14 years of age and their families in ICT programming. The training will be carried out from an intercultural and gender perspective and with the participation of volunteers in 3 secondary schools in the province of Barcelona. This new project is funded by the Department of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

Confinement and the new situations caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have meant that in order to be able to manage many things in everyday life, using technology is essential. But… How does this technology work? How can we learn about how it works? Is robotics complex? What is artificial intelligence? #JovesInTech aims to make programming and technology in general accessible to all people, especially those in vulnerable situations, and offer new job opportunities and inclusion.
Some people may have more difficulty knowing how to navigate and access the Internet or use technology in general, and others know a lot about it and are very oriented to “Internet things”. The project #JOVESINTECH intended that people who know a lot, and others who do not so much, can have a common meeting and training space so that society wins. People who know a lot will do voluntary training work and people who know less will have more tools to overcome better the digital divide, and the challenges in “e-society”… In short, to contribute to making everyone happier.
How are we going to do it with #JOVESINTECH?
- Putting at the service of the educational community of thesecondary schools of the Barcelonès and Baix Llobregat where the project will be carried out, the capacity in the ICT educational fieldthat Fundación Esplai has, its trajectory, experience at the state level and at European level.
- Incorporating volunteers who know about programming and ICT, to train young people over 14 years old and their families in their own secondary schools in the afternoons.
- Promoting a quality approach to technological and educational culture: focused on the field of leisure and the field of the professional future… Approaching technology without fear and with quality allows young people to relate to technology in a close way… trying to awaken possible technological vocations.
- Taking advantage of interculturality as a value of social cohesionthat generates more opportunities for people at risk of vulnerability.
- Relying in networking, articulating knowledge and experiences, learning in values and with a desire for personal improvement, and in groups.
#JOVESINTECH, An opportunity to be together and together, learning more and better about the potential of the Internet and people’s desire to excel.
