The Foundation of the Ocular Microsurgery Institute (IMO) is checking the eyesight of children in the Baix Llobregat at risk of social exclusion, with the collaboration of Fundesplai (Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai) and Cáritas.
Fundesplai (Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai) is the entity in charge of selecting, depending on their personal situation, children who can benefit from the program.
The campaign will have 3 phases (May, October and February) where children from 3 to 5 years old will be attended to from the esplais. The first of these phases was carried out on May 20, 21 and 22 at the Centre d’Esplai Pubilla Cases – Can Vidalet, in L’Hospitalet – Esplugues de Llobregat. In this first phase, 120 children aged 2-5 years from the following entities of Fundesplai have participated: Centre d’Esplai Esplai Pubilla Cases – Can Vidalet, Centre d’Esplai Bellvitge, Grup d’Esplai Espurnes, Esplai Fontsanta – Fatjó and Centre d’Esplai Can Serra .
Caritas Catalunya will cover the cost of glasses that may be required by some of the children checked within the project, while IMO will offer any surgical treatment that may arise from these check-ups free of charge. The reviews will be carried out within the framework of the Caixa ProInfància program of the Social Work of the La Caixa Foundation.
