Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the Federation, Fundesplai has presented the campaign “Get the summer right – A summer for everyone”. The double motto responds to the objectives of offering children, young people and families a wide range of activities for this summer and, at the same time, ensuring that no child is left out of the camps during the school holidays.
This year Fundesplai offers more than 1,200 activities for children and young people from 3 to 25 years old, including camps, camps, routes and work camps and camps for families, with a total of 85,473 places. That’s a 15% increase from last summer.
In the chapter on news, Fundesplai proposes a summer camp with equine therapy activities; the work camp in English in Àger “Get fun in Montsec” or the camps “A ballar” in Solsonès. The Camps for families The month of August, at social prices: one week in August for 2 adults and 2 children up to 16 years old, on a full-board basis, with a swimming pool and with activities led by monitors, costs just over € 140 per person.
Ensuring equity in summer
To guarantee equity, Fundesplai has been promoting since 2011 the fundraising campaign and awarding of scholarships “A summer for everyone!”. Last year, 4,774 scholarships were awarded to children from 85 different municipalities to go to summer camps. 274,996 euros were allocated to these scholarships awarded directly by Fundesplai, which is 7.2% more than the previous year.
Looking ahead to this coming summer, Fundesplai believes that the demand for scholarships will maintain or increase. In this sense, we plan to be able to award 5,300 scholarships in 2016, an amount that multiplies by five the number of scholarships awarded in 2011, the year in which the campaign began.
According to Josep Gassó, president of Fundesplai, “we do not want the camps to be a luxury and that is why we must mobilize society to guarantee the right to leisure for all children”.
In order to award these scholarships, Fundesplai has the funds contributed by the Diputació de Barcelona and the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, through 0.7% for social purposes and some companies such as Grífols. As in previous years, the contribution of the Generalitat de Catalunya is also foreseen. In addition to these funds for scholarships and grants channelled directly by Fundesplai, some of the 81 participating leisure centres also receive aid from their town councils or from the “la Caixa” Foundation’s Obra Social through the ProInfancia programme.
The set, last year was allocated to scholarships and grants about one million euros.
However, in order to respond to the growing needs, Fundesplai calls on individuals, companies and entities to collaborate by making contributions through the www.fundesplai.org/dona website or by calling 902 10 40 30.
4th Charity Gymkhana
Fundesplai also promotes the Solidarity Gymkhana. It is a team competition game, open to everyone, which aims to raise funds for scholarships for camps and camps. This year the Gymkhana proposes that the participating teams make ” Summits for children”: climb a peak -no matter the height- take a photo and hang it on an interactive map, while making a contribution for scholarships. The goal is to reach 50,000 euros.
Fundesplai has paid special attention to maintaining the prices of the activitiesit organizes directly or from the esplais that, being non-profit entities, are already very tight. In addition, it also offers a system of self-financing of activities, through a raffle that will be given to all people who carry out activities.
