The Minister of Territory and Sustainability, Josep Rull, the Secretary of Environment and Sustainability, Marta Subirà, and the General Director of Environmental Quality and Climate Change, Mercè Rius, presented on Monday, October 7, in an act at the Palau de la Generalitat, the certificates ofVoluntary agreements to the last 39 organizations that have adhered to this program to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions promoted by the Generalitat. Carles Xifra, Head of the Area of Educational and Social Actions and Programs of Fundesplai, collected last Monday, November 7, the certificate of the Porgram of Voluntary Agreements for the Reduction of CO2.
The Voluntary Agreements are a seal of quality that can be obtained by companies, organizations and institutions in Catalonia that accredit a firm commitment to the reduction of these gases, responsible for climate change. Through this programme, the agencies voluntarily commit themselves to drawing up an inventory of emissions each year and to propose and implement measures to reduce them.
The program was born in mid-2010 with the aim that organizations had a framework where they could show their commitment to reducing GHG emissions. In five years, 153 have joined, most of which have opted for actions aimed at reducing energy consumption, with the associated reduction in costs.
