On September 23, the Fálame de Sant Sadurniño project won the prize for best initiative in the contest promoted by the European project ACTing, Social agents as promoters of active ageing through ICT, in which Fundación Esplai participates.
The prize was presented within the framework of the final conference of the project, held in Geneva, and was collected by Carmen Suárez, facilitator of the CeMIT classroom and creator of Fálame; and Creu Piñón and Consol Pics, two of the most involved neighbors. “Fálame de Sant Sadurniño” consists of the creation and dynamization of an online space that collects the history, old photographs and the day to day life of this municipality of A Coruña and whose work is carried out by the elderly of the place who attend the classroom of learning of information and communication technologies (CEMIT classroom).
The jury formed by Carmen Alemany Laín, Director of Institutional Relations of SECOT, Rodrigo Zardoya Member of Telecentre Europe, and Altheo Valentini, Director General of European Grants International Academy SAR U, valued the initiative its “innovation, creativity, use of technology, social utility, impact, methodology and visibility gives initiative”.
Since 2013, 230 people have participated in the project, telling more than 700 stories, “faladas, with texts, photographs and videos”.
The European initiative ACTing
Over two years, the ACTing project has provided social agents working with older people with knowledge and methodology adapted to this group, in order to promote active ageing through information and communication technologies.
Acting is funded through the Autonomous Agency for Educational Programs of the European Commission, and led by Fundetec. It counts with the participation of entities representing four countries: Spain (Fundación Esplai), Italy (Fondazione Mondo Digitale), Romania (Associiva pentru Educatie Permanenta in Mediul rural) and Switzerland (ICVolunteers).
