Saturday, November 20 was Universal Children’s Rights Day. The esplais that are part of the Federació Catalana de l’Esplai and the schools where Fundesplai is present participated on this day and throughout the week in a collective action to claim the The right to food and the right to leisure. This action is part of the educational proposal of Fundesplai “Menja. Actua. Impacta” which seeks to promote healthy and sustainable eating and is developed in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years. In total, 123 schools and 37 esplais participated in this collective challenge that mobilized 25,360 children and young people.
Saturday, November 20 was Universal Children’s Rights Day. The esplais that are part of the Federació Catalana de l’Esplai and the schools where Fundesplai is present participated on this day and throughout the week in a collective action to claim the right to food and the right to leisure. This action is part of the educational proposal of Fundesplai ” Menja. Actua. Impacta” that seeks to promote healthy and sustainable eating and is developed in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years. In total, 123 schools and 37 esplais participated in this collective challenge that mobilized 25,360 children and young people.
Thus, girls and boys from esplais and schools took part in different workshops where, hand in hand with monitors, they made murals, collages, crafts, etc. in order to express their ideas on this topic and, later, they were shared on social networks with the hashtags #DretAlimentació20N and #DretalLleure.
The action had different objectives: for children and young people to reflect on how food affects the health of people and the planet; promote healthy nutrition habits; Promote the values of respect for nature, care for people and citizen participation and become aware that all children in the world have the right to food.
The celebration of this collective action on the occasion of the Universal Day of the Rights of the Child coincided with the opening of the exhibition “Menja. Actua. Impacta” also on sustainable and healthy food that took place on Saturday 20 November at the headquarters of Fundesplai in El Prat de Llobregat.
