This Sunday, May 11, the Parc Nou of El Prat de Llobregat hosted the 28th edition of the Esplai Partythe great celebration of education in leisure organized by Fundesplai (Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai) and that has brought together some 10,000 people, who have been able to enjoy more than 50 recreational and educational activities.

Fundesplai ‘s summer activities campaign that includes a scholarship campaign to ensure that all children will be able to enjoy educational leisure activities this summer.
This year Fundesplai estimates that the demand for camperships will increase by around 25%. An increase in the demand for social centers is also expected social centers to ensure the care and feeding of children at risk. To address this increase, Fundesplai is promoting different initiatives:
- Campaign to raise funds from administrations, companies and individuals to provide scholarships for the sons and daughters of families affected by the crisis. At present, funds have already been provided by the Diputació de Barcelona; by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, through the 0.7% for social purposes, the Generalitat de Catalunya and some companies such as Grífols.
- It organizes the Gimcana Solidaria del Verano, a team competition in which 30 groups participated last year, raising 43,000 euros.
- Call so that everyone can download the song “Un verano para todos”, sending a text message with the word fundesplai to 27171 and collaborating in the scholarship campaign.
With these measures, Fundesplai expects to directly award 4,000 scholarships for camps and centers, 25% more than last summer, when 3,100 were awarded.
Apart from these funds for scholarships and grants channeled directly by Fundesplai, some of the more than 60 member esplai centers also receive aid from their city councils or from the Obra Social de la Fundación “la Caixa”, through the ProInfancia program.
Finally, Fundesplai makes a school available to all families who enroll their children in the camps and camps. a self-financing system that allows 100% of the cost of the activity to be recovered through the sale of numbers for a raffle in which families can win a stay in the summer camp homes.
