| The Festival also hosted a space for the #botaxlainfancia campaign |
Festa Esplai has been the culminating point of the #botaxlainfancia campaign, which Fundesplai launched in January to claim rights and equal opportunities in childhood at a time when 27.3% of children live below the poverty line. Throughout the day, attendees took photos of themselves “bouncing” (jumping with trampolines or bouncing a ball) and posting it on social media with the label #botaxlainfancia. In addition, those attending the Festa Esplai have been invited to participate in a great collective “bot”. Each “bot” is an outcry for children. And for each “bot” the collaborating companies (Eurest Catalunya; Supermarkets PlusFresc and Autocares Bardet-GrupAvant) donate one euro that will be used for scholarships for children at risk who can go to camps, reinforcement activities and the school canteen.
With today’s bots the campaign #botaxlainfancia has already achieved more than 12,000 bots, people of very diverse ages, dedication and origins, among which there are “celebrities”, such as the players of RCD Espanyol, FIATC Juventud, different sections of FC Barcelona; Musicians such as Lax n’Busto, Cesk Freixas, Projecte MUT, etc.
Fundesplai’s proposals before the municipal elections
But the #botaxlainfancia campaign doesn’t just stop at gestures. Before the municipal elections, Fundesplai calls on political parties to make childhood a priority in the policies of the new municipalities and asks citizens to vote for those candidacies that are committed to children’s rights.
In this sense, Fundesplai has presented a document with three main proposals: promoting a local policy with the eyes of a child; guaranteeing equity and quality in education and Support and recognition in Recreation Centers. These three proposals are developed in 13 specific measures that can be consulted on the web. It stands out that of promoting in the municipalities Local Pacts for Children, which specify Local Childhood Plans of the City Councils in the municipality with commitments in favor of the rights of children and adolescents, guaranteeing the coordination and transversality of all departments and participation of local actors.
This year Fundesplai plans to award 4,500 scholarships for summer camps, four times more than when the campaign began in 2010.
Festa Esplai has also served to present the campaign “Get Summer right-A summer for everyone!”, which offers more than 1,000 rounds of camps, camps, routes and work camps for children, young people and families, with more than 60,000 places (+2% compared to 2014). Through this campaign, Fundesplai also wants to raise funds to be able to award the more than 4,500 scholarships that it foresees that it will have to grant so that no child is left without going to a camp or a camp this summer. Fundesplai started this campaign in 2010 and in these five years it has had to quadruple the number of scholarships awarded. Funsdespai calls for everyone to collaborate through the www.fundesplai.org/dona website or by calling 902 10 40 30.
The 29th edition of Festa Esplai has been possible thanks to the collaboration of nearly 500 volunteers, entities, administrations and companies.
