What is the importance of citizen drive in the good governance of food systems? What is the food model that will guarantee the health of the planet and people? How can we approach them and what role does civil society play?

This day will invite you to explore the importance of citizen impulse in the good governance of food systems and in the policies that shape them.
The first part of the event will consist of a presentation by Peter Schmidt, President of the Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment (NAT) section of the European Economic and Social Committee. Peter Schmidt will reflect on the urgency of transforming food systems and the key role of civil society as an agent of change, dialogue and governance.
We will learn about the transformative power of civil society initiatives through various experiences in Catalonia (such as the Consell Català de l’Alimentació, the Food Charter of the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona, the Strategy to guarantee the right to Food of Manresa and Territori de Vincles) and also internationally (Food Council of the municipality of Ede, in the Netherlands). Representatives of these organizations will share their views and experiences in a round table.
We want this day to be a space for exchange, so we will also reserve a space for public participation.
The conference is co-organized by CADS and Fundesplai. It receives support from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of the Government of Germany and the European Climate Initiative (EUKI).
The event will be online and can be followed in both Catalan and English. You can register by clicking on Registration
