Last Friday, March 10, the closing ceremony was held at CENTRE ESPLAI, with the interventions of Lluís Tejedor, mayor of El Prat de Llobregat, Josep Gassó, president of Fundesplai, as well as representatives of the Department of Education, the institutes and the participating young people and adults.
The “Conecta Joven” consists, in a first phase, of training young people in social and communication skills who, in a second stage, will act as teachers of computer science and Internet of adults at risk of suffering from the digital divide.
This initiative began to be developed in El Prat in 2013 and this 2015 has closed its 2nd edition. As a novelty this year, adults with functional diversity from the Rubricatus Foundation participated and mobile phones were incorporated as new devices.
In his speech, Tejedor highlighted the links created between young people and adults beyond their participation in the “Conecta Joven” and the value that this represents for the community, while Gassó stressed the sum that this initiative represents: learning, service, solidarity… The young participants, for their part, explained how participating in this program had helped them to be more responsible, patient and strengthen their self-esteem, while the adults explained that, apart from learning many skills with communication technologies, they had positively changed their image of young people.
