On Friday, April 8, CENTRE ESPLAI hosted the closing of the “Conecta Joven” project in El Prat de Llobregat, an intergenerational, educational and social Service Learning (SL) program, promoted by Fundesplai and which has had the support of the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat and the company Ricoh.
In this third edition of the project, a total of 120 adults and 39 students of 3rd and 4th ESO from the institutes of the municipality of El Prat have participated. In the first phase, these students have been trained in communication and social skills to, in a second stage, empower themselves and assume the role of ICT teachers of adults at risk of suffering from the digital divide.
The closing ceremony included, among others, the interventions of Pilar Eslava, Deputy Mayor for Equality and Social Rights and Councilor for Education of the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat, and Carles Barba, Vice President of the Fundesplai.
In total, 150 people, including young people, adults, representatives of Fundesplai and the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat, as well as the entities linked to the project and relatives of young and old, have gathered to celebrate the success of the program. In this act, diplomas were also awarded where, in addition to receiving the diploma of their experience, young people gave a diploma to their group of adults.
“Conecta Joven” is a nationwide programme promoted by Fundación Esplai since 2006 with the support of Microsoft, the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, different local public administrations and social organisations.
