The Carulla Foundationpresented on Thursday, September 3, the 12th edition of the Leisure Education Awards at the Bellvitge Recreation Clubof L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. The event was attended by the director of the Carulla Foundation, Carles Duarte; the director general of Youth of the Department of Social Welfare and Family of the Generalitat, Antoni Reig; the president of the National Youth Council of Catalonia (CNJC), Núria Ramon; and Carles Barba, vice president of Fundesplai.
The jury of the 2014 Leisure Education Awards awarded the Bellvitge Recreation Club’s trajectory for its forty-five years dedicated to children and young people. The Bellvitge Recreation Club, which is part of Fundesplai, is the story of a dream come true. Thousands of children and young people have been protagonists and it has helped them grow and build their dreams as well. A pioneer in daily recreation, it has become a model of educational and social action that has dignified education in leisure. It has also been the seed and reference of many esplais in L’Hospitalet and around the country, and is where the origin of Fundesplai is found. The Club is part of the success story of Bellvitge, a neighborhood that was born fifty years ago lacking everything and that today is a community full of life.
The Leisure Education Awards, which have the collaboration of the General Directorate of Youth and the CNJC, are intended to recognize projects, experiences and trajectories of an educational nature in the field of social education and leisure. The awards consist of six awards of 4,000 euros each: four for new projects and experiences already carried out; one in recognition of the trajectory of an entity, which the jury awards regardless of the proposals presented, and finally an award for the best experience or project that is made by young people and / or aimed at young people, offered by the General Directorate of Youth. The total prize money is 24,000 euros.
