With the beginning of the school year, the summer activities campaign has come to an end. In the case of Fundesplai, there have been a total of 84 uninterrupted days (the first casales started on June 22nd) during which the following have been organized 1,374 tandes of camps, colonies, work camps and camps that have hosted 35,426 participants. In order to guarantee access to these activities, Fundesplai has granted a total of 4,667 scholarships and aid to children in vulnerable situations.
Those responsible for Fundesplai value very positively that, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been possible to organize hundreds of activities with thousands of participants, making summer camps and summer camps the real spearhead of the re-socialization of children and young people after the months of confinement in our country.
According to Fundesplai officials, This summer has demonstrated a successful organizational capacity, which has made it possible to guarantee the right to education and leisure of children and young people, while ensuring the safety of children with prevention protocols and health and hygiene measures. The incidence of Còvid-19 has been very low, with only 11 positive cases among the more than 35,000 participants.
Facing the new course of leisure education
For those responsible for Fundesplai, the success of the summer activities campaign, is a positive experience and an endorsement before the imminent start of the course of educational leisure activities inside and outside the school framework.
In this regard, preventive measures will continue throughout the 2020-21 school year and will be reinforced as needed in the coming months and as the current pandemic develops.
At Fundesplai we develop leisure education programs; school canteens and lunchtime space, extracurricular activities and attention to SEN in 1,175 schools and 114 esplais and leisure projects throughout Catalonia. In order to start the 2020/21 academic year with maximum guarantees, virtual meetings are being held these days with the teams of monitors and instructors to share lessons learned from the summer activities; to train in methodological and pedagogical aspects; to share pedagogical strategies and educational resources; to reinforce the emotional competencies of the teams and to imagine and promote effective organization and coordination processes in the face of the challenges derived from the pandemic.

The success of the summer activities, in the exceptionally complicated context of the pandemic, has led Fundesplai to promote a campaign to thank the involvement and enthusiasm of all the monitors, as well as the commitment of the families and everyone who, despite the difficulties, has made possible a happy summer for the children.
The campaign consists of the dissemination of advertisements and opinion articles in the press and in the media. a video in the social networks where different children and young people thank the involvement and enthusiasm of the monitors in the summer camps, camps, camps and work camps this summer. The video ends with a thank you from a monitor for the trust placed in us by the families.
