ConnectART is a playful-formative proposal of the Federació Catalana de l’Esplai with the collaboration of the “la Caixa” Foundation aimed at children who have used art as a tool for social transformation. The project is linked to the educational proposal nuSOS of Fundesplai. Through artistic expression, children have worked on the concepts of global citizenship, migration and refuge, interculturality and diversity from a global justice approach.
In total, five esplais of the Federation have participated in this initiative: Esplai el Raconet (Cervelló), Esplai El Pengüí (Sant Andreu de la Barca), Esplai Fontsanta-Fatjó (Cornellà de Llobregat), Centre de Lleure Tu Tries (Terrassa) and Esplai Pubilla Cases-Can Vidalet (L’Hospitalet – Esplugues de Llobregat).
The participating entities have carried out artistic workshops in which they have been able to shape experiences, ideas and emotions through appreciation, experience and experimentation with art, promoting personal initiative, imagination and creativity. The workshops have been carried out with Creart, an entity specialized in peace education through artistic experience in the fields of international cooperation and education for global justice.
The virtual exhibition of community art ConnectART, is the culmination of a project that shows all the work developed by the children of the leisure organizations, portraying their capacity for social transformation, learning and experiences worked on by the participating children.
The Federació Catalana de l’Esplai, has developed the ConnectART project during the 2019-2020 academic year thanks to the collaboration of Fundación “La Caixa”.
