Daniel Crespo, rector of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), and Cristina Rodríguez, general director of Fundesplai, have signed a collaboration agreement. The objective is to promote joint educational initiatives aimed at children and young people to promote technological vocations and education in values in schools and institutes, leisure centers, centers and colonies.
In this area, it is also planned to share resources and strategies for the development of these actions with a gender perspective, breaking stereotypes and gender roles and making visible new female references.
Both organizations are also committed to promoting academic, scientific and professional relations, encouraging debate and the exchange of experiences, and promoting joint projects and initiatives. Finally, the two institutions with strong roots in the Baix Llobregat also contemplate being able to collaborate in promoting the region as a pole of global innovation with initiatives with local roots.
Daniel Crespo, rector of the UPC, has valued the collaboration as “a Exciting new project Because both entities share the same purpose: Building a sustainable and just world from architecture, engineering, science and technology, giving prominence to young people, and at the same time attracting female talent to STEAM studios”. For its part, Cristina Rodriguez, CEO of Fundesplai, stressed: “The two institutions share the will to promote Innovative initiatives with a social and sustainability vocation And now with this agreement we will be able to join forces in different areas such as training, the promotion of vocations or the dissemination of technology and education in values, especially among young people”.
Artificial Intelligence Camps and drones for young people
The first of the initiatives in which the two institutions will collaborate are two technological fields for young people that will be developed this summer and that also have the collaboration of El Periódico. These fields combine workshops by UPC researchers with educational activities in values and a fun part (sailing, paddle surfing, swimming pool…).
