Fundesplai has presented the program “Demà Jove” that  aims to insert into the labor market young people in a situation of unemployment and / or with little or no training. This initiative combines learning, personalized support and an employment contract from day one.  This action is promoted and subsidized by the Public Employment Service of Catalonia (SOC) 

The presentation ceremony was attended by a wide representation of institutions and social organizations, which corresponds to the broad social impact of the proposal. Josep Gassó, president of Fundesplai that leads the program in Catalonia, highlighted the values of the initiative: “It is important that young people can work and train, but above all they must recover hope to make a better world”; among the institutional speakers, Carles Campuzano, Minister of the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat, remarked that Fundesplai gives power and voice to young people through projects such as “Youth Tomorrow. ” It is necessary to build alliances to meet the challenge of incorporating young people into the labor market”, he concluded;  Esther Maria Perez, Deputy Director General of Inclusion Policies of the Ministry of Inclusion, for her part, highlighted the importance of public policies in the fight against exclusion and extreme poverty;  Enric Vinaixa, Secretary of Labour of the Department of Enterprise and Labour of the Generalitat de Catalunya, said: “The Dual FPO is an absolute commitment of the Government of the Generalitat because it is a backbone of the country”; Silvia Miró, Director of the Work Area of Pimec, has emphasized the relationship between work and education: “The labor market evolves very fast and educational skills do not adapt at the same time and these initiatives are fundamental to change this paradigm.”

The head of the entity promoting the “Demà Jove” program in Brazil also took part Adair Meira, founder of Renapsi, who spoke about the importance of this effort in Brazil is giving new opportunities to more than 6,000 young people this year; as well as Gracinha Caiado, President of the Technical and Social Group of the state of Goiás (Brazil), where this initiative is being developed: “We are ambitious and in the coming years and we want to reach 20,000 young people through this program”. 

Cristina Rodriguez, General Director of Fundesplai, and Juan Carlos Moreno, Executive Director Tomorrow Jovem by RENAPSI, also spoke. Rodríguez: “This programme stands out for giving prominence to the figure of the young apprentice, who trains and works”. Moreno: “Aprendiz do futuro, which we promote in Brazil, is one of the most important social learning programs in the   world”.

Young people played a leading role in the presentation of “Demà Jove”. Maria Guerrini and Miquel Àngel Múñoz spoke on behalf of the 300 participants of the “Demà Jove” program in Catalonia. Muñoz said: “Thanks to this project many of us can move forward with our ideas and dreams”. For his part, Guerrini referred to the educators who accompany them: “They have made us feel very comfortable”.

Allana Ferreira and João Gonçalves did it on behalf of young Brazilians who are already training and working in the “Demà Jove” in Brazil. Ferrereira commented: “The support of my family and the company has been essential for me”. “Thanks to my salary, the economy of my home has been transformed”,  concluded Gonçalves.

The launch of “Demà Jove” in Catalonia brings together the experience of the Renapsi Foundation (Brazil), which has managed to reach more than 200,000 families in its more than 30 years of existence.

The presentation was the main event of the 1st Meeting Barcelona 2022, which between November 12 and 17 hosted a delegation of young Brazilians participating in the Youth Tomorrow in that country, the Renapsi organization -initial promoter of the program- and representatives of the government of Goiàs, Brazilian state where this initiative is developed. The meeting included an intense agenda with different situational events, among which the reception of the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, stood out at the Palau de la Generalitat on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

Previously, on Monday, November 14, 2022, Anna M. Cuello, deputy mayor of the City Council of El Prat de Llobregat, received in an institutional act at the consistory the delegation of the Encontro. The institutional visits were combined with attendance at different educational and social projects of Fundesplai where young people have a lot of prominence such as the Centre d’Esplai Pubilla Cases – Can Vidalet (L’Hospitalet – Esplugues de Llobregat) or the Cervantes School (Barcelona). He was also there for the more recreational activities.

Encounter Europe

Since 2020 and thanks to ERASMUS+ funding, Fundesplai has led a project to evaluate the methodology of the “Youth Tomorrow” program based on the reality of the partner countries: Italy, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and Holland. The University of Barcelona has also participated in the European project, contributing to this analysis and the subsequent conclusions.

A delegation with representatives of Fundesplai and Renapsi travelled to Brussels where on Wednesday 16 November they presented the “Youth Tomorrow” project at European level. On Thursday 17 November, the same delegation presented the conclusions of the aforementioned ERASMUS+ to the European Parliament.
