To train in pedagogical resources on education in healthy and sustainable food.
More than 500 monitors of the midday educational time of Fundesplai who work in educational centers throughout Catalonia have participated in a meeting this Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Centre Esplai (El Prat de Llobregat) to participate in different workshops and activities that have revolved around education for sustainable and healthy eating, the pedagogical axis of Fundesplai for this 2022-23 academic year.

Among the workshops, they have highlighted the fight against food waste in school canteens, knowing the diversity of seeds that can be planted in a garden or a recipe book so that children and young people learn to make menus to reuse food. Training aimed at emotional education, coexistence, diversity and participation of children and young people has also been carried out.
Monitors were also able to visit the innovative 1,500 m exhibition2 “Menja. Actua. Impacta.”, located at the headquarters of Fundesplai, which addresses the challenges of our current food system (local consumption and sustainable and seasonal agriculture, overpackaging of plastics, food waste, ultra-processed foods and the reduction of animal protein).
Health and climate change in schools: fighting waste
This 2022-23 the Fundesplai teams that work in schools, youth centers, summer camps and other educational spaces focus on “Stop Waste”, an educational axis to promote the fight against food waste that is part of the educational proposal “Menjar Canvia el Món” that Fundesplai is promoting the 2021-22 and 2022-23 courses to promote sustainable and healthy food.
The educational teams will sensitize children and young people about this problem in school canteens through incorporating new habits and with a series of dynamic activities such as workshops, talks, etc. on responsible consumption, food use, recipes to optimize food, etc.
