This day, which has carried the motto “We are children, we are present” is an initiative that wants to promote the culture of participation among leisure entities. The project, led by esplai Get ugly and the Federació Catalana de l’Esplai, Entity that is part of Fundesplai, and which has the collaboration of Obra Social la Caixa, wants to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of generating instruments, processes and spaces for children, to make operational the real exercise of their citizenship rights.
During the first part of the Forum the children, divided into groups, were debating to build “The formula of participation”, Composed of elements such as that “participation is a right”, that “we have the right to express ourselves”, that “camaraderie is necessary”, and that “there must be spaces for participation”. And all this, “here and now, because we are citizens of the present”.
The meeting also had a “laboratory” space, where the boys and girls themselves shared up to 10 projects and experiences of child participation, carried out in their esplais. In this meeting, experiences were shown that we had with the participation of the company Ricoh that lent its Theta camera that allows you to take 360-degree photos. Here you can see a sample:

Project “Ens-a-JUNTA-rem”, of the Club d’Esplai Pubilla Cases – Can Vidalet de L’Hospitalet – Esplugues de Llobregat:
The young people of CE Pubilla Cases – Can Vidalet launched this initiative a few months ago in order to choose their own representatives who now participate in the Board of the entity. It is a good way to make known the point of view of the boys and girls in the day-to-day aspects that are dealt with in the board of directors of the center.
Project to improve the Park of the Llàntia neighborhood, of the Enlleura’t recreation, of Mataró.
The children of this esplai promoted a process to improve the park of the Llàntia neighborhood, close to the entity and where many girls and boys go. This activity has helped the children learn to participate by participating: they have held meetings to decide on ideas, they have debated them, they have checked them on the ground and, finally, they have made their proposals that will now materialize. Among the ideas, fix the access so that it does not go directly on the road, put nets to prevent the balls from leaving, a fountain at the bottom of the park or a gym for the elderly.
Projecte Som Riu, by the esplais El Tricicle and El Nus, in Sant Joan Despí.
The children of these esplais participate in the Som Riu project, an initiative that aims, with different actions, to involve citizens in the protection, planning and restoration of the Llobregat River as it passes through Sant Joan Despí. Among the improvements, the children have made a raft next to the river, where you can now find many animals such as tadpoles that are very important for the ecosystem of the area.
