On March 31, Fundesplai launched a new edition of the AMA, the accompaniment project for adolescent mothers started in 2015.
AMA is a transformation proposal for young women (18 to 25 years old) pregnant women or mothers with children between 0 and 3 years who, due to their situation of vulnerability, need an opportunity to learn in a holistic and compensating way and to be able to generate change in their perspective of life and approach to their present and future.
The project is being developed at the facilities of the Club D’Esplai Bellvitge (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat) from Monday to Friday and until June 10. The group participating in this edition is made up of 20 young women and mothers and their children between 0 and 3 years old.
Young women arrive with their children every morning and work on different educational aspects and moments of daily life in relation to the care of their children: play with their child, relationship and bonding, at the same time their own space as a young person and woman. In addition, they also train as leisure monitors and, after the compulsory internship period, obtain a degree approved by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The comprehensive training proposal with the group of young women and their children consists of:
- Initially a few days of routines to work on adaptation to the project (children and young women).
- Personal and social skills module.
- Module of maternal competences.
- Course for children and youth leisure monitors.
- AMA Space, sessions aimed at personal growth and where different necessary resources are proposed.
We want to highlight from this edition that one of the young participants in the AMA project of the 2015 edition, has joined working as a monitor of the children’s space.
With this new edition of the AMA project we hope to consolidate it and project it for many more editions in the future.
