More than 200 people, including representatives of entities and public administrations, participated in the conference that Suport Associatiu organized to clarify doubts about the new law on volunteering and promotion of associationism and that took place on Thursday, October 22 at the Espai Francesca Bonnemaison in Barcelona.
The event began with an intervention by Víctor García, from Associative Support, who gave way to Marc Viñas, Deputy Director General of Social Cooperation and Volunteerism of the Generalitat, and Eva Ribera, Head of the Service for the Promotion of Associations and Volunteerism of the Generalitat, who reviewed the main aspects of the law, such as the role of the public administration, the relationship established between entities and volunteers or the rights and duties of volunteers.
Later, it was the turn of the entities. Thus, Francina Alsina, president of the Catalan Federation of Social Volunteering, highlighted the fact that the new law recognized the different realities of the associative world. Salvador Casals, president of the Federation of Athenaeums of Catalonia, referred to the importance of the formal links between volunteers and entities and highlighted the importance of cultural volunteering. José A. Pérez, Head of the Sports Service of the City Council of Sant Joan Despí, for his part, spoke about volunteering in sports entities.
The day ended with questions from different representatives of entities on specific aspects of the law such as international cooperation, the registration of volunteers or compensation.
