The Lealtad Foundation, an independent and non-profit institution, has awarded the Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai and Fundación Esplai the “ONG Acreditada” seal. It is a unique badge in Spain that helps donors to recognize in a clear and simple way those NGOs that meet their current requirements for transparency and efficiency in management. Thanks to the seal, donors will know that Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai and Fundación Esplai focus their efforts on the areas in which they have experience, that their communication is reliable and not misleading, or that they can know the percentage of expenses allocated to their mission, among other indicators.
The granting of accreditation is the result of an analysis carried out by Fundación Lealtad, which has concluded that both entities fully comply with the 9 Principles of Transparency and Good Practices. “The Foundation has verified, among other points, the proper functioning of the governing body of NGOs for the fulfillment of their responsibilities and the effective use of their resources, whether both entities are sustainable and if their communication is reliable, as well as the coherence of their activities with their mission of general interest”, said Patricia de Roda, general director of the Lealtad Foundation.
Trust and transparency
“Having obtained the seal of NGO Acreditada, after having passed the analysis of Fundación Lealtad uninterruptedly since 2001, reflects our commitment to the criteria of transparency and accountability to society”, said Montserrat Picas, secretary of the boards of trustees of Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai and Fundación Esplai, who highlighted the work of Fundación Lealtad to improve trust in NGOs.
“Spanish society has evolved and is now more demanding of all institutions, including NGOs. With the seal of the Lealtad Foundation, citizens and companies must recognize Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai and Fundación Esplai as NGOs to give with extra confidence,” said de Roda.
The “NGO Acreditada” seal and its rigorous concession process are endorsed by the experience of Fundación Lealtad, which since 2001 has analysed more than 270 NGOs and prepared more than 1,000 reports on transparency and good practices. His methodology has been recognized nationally and internationally. The 9 Principles analysed group more than 40 indicators of transparency and good practices.
