Last Tuesday, July 28, primatologist Jane Goodall visited the Tricicle Recreation Center (Sant Joan Despí) of Fundesplai in an event in which children from the Tricicle, El Nus and El Raconet esplais participated.

During the day, Jane Goodall explained the various projects promoted by her foundation for the defense of animals and its work of preserving chimpanzees and education for sustainability. Among these, the program stood out Move through the jungle which is used to collect used mobile phones that can have different uses: reuse them, recycle them to use some of their components or collect funds for education, conservation and development programs in Congo, such as the Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Recovery Center.

In addition, Goodall conveyed through his words the importance of the effort to achieve the goals and gave as an example his own life, since from the age of 10 he fought to be able to go to Africa to dedicate himself to the protection of animals and, especially, chimpanzees. The primatologist also stressed the importance of small daily gestures that can help nature.

Girls and boys explain their projects

The children attending had the opportunity to ask questions of the activist and explain some of the projects in favor of the environment developed by themselves, such as a vertical garden, the collection of mobile phones or the creation of an ecosystem for butterflies.

In addition, at the end of the event, Jane Goodall made a small sample of what the language of chimpanzees is like, which ended with a collective participation of all girls and boys reproducing one of the sounds of chimpanzees.

This visit took place one day after Jane Goodall received the Premi Internacional Catalunya for her work to protect chimpanzees and nature and in recognition of her contribution to the development of scientific values around the world.
