The LIMBO is a project linked and organized by the youth space of La Fàbrica Jove de Salt , a municipal facility managed by Fundesplai and promoted by the Youth Department of the City Council of Saltin collaboration with the Casa de la Música of the same municipality.
The last party of the Limbo project, held on January 30, was attended by about 200 young people, mostly between the ages of 14 and 18.
This initiative is a springboard that encourages young people from the municipality of Salt (Girona) to approach the world of culture. The project was born in 2011 as a result of the demand of young people to have leisure spaces, where music and culture are protagonists.
A space for participation
The Limbo project works on two lines of action. The first consists of an assembly of young people that acts as a motor group for the organization of the event. This group, accompanied by the educators of the Youth Factory, is made up of boys and girls from 14 to 18 years old who meet once a week to carry out the organization and planning of the event. These meetings allow working on decision-making in a democratic and assembly way, the acquisition of skills and competences of self-management and coordination of a project, while enhancing cultural diversity and teamwork. We also work so that young people themselves link up and cooperate with other organizations, entities, associations and centers of the municipality to promote territorial cohesion.
Secondly, and no less important, is the celebration of the event: a party every two months from 6pm to 9pm at Mirona , the reference concert hall of the Gironès. In this space, artists exhibit their music, dance, theater or other performing arts, where the young attendees participate, relate to each other and delve into the cultural creation of each performance.
Thus, the Limbo project of the Espai Jove La Fàbrica has been consolidated as a sociocultural meeting space for young people with diverse interests, and where young artists from Salt and surroundings show their creations. Through coordination and teamwork, a multidisciplinary space has been achieved that is constituted as a leisure reference for young people throughout the municipality.
