Fundesplai (Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai) has launched the initiative for #DretalLleure, a mobilization action that wants to vindicate the educational value of education in leisure and play on the occasion of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the approval of the convention on the Rights of the Child that was held yesterday, November 20.
The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the The Convention on the Rights of the Child is an opportunity to publicly vindicate, from the field of education in leisure, one of the most elementary rights of children: your right to the Game, as stated Article 31. A right that, in the current context of crisis, is becoming a great challenge for everyone. This was highlighted by the latest report by the Catalan Ombudsman: “educational leisure is one of the social areas with the greatest inequalities of access, as it has been one of the most affected by measures to contain family spending”.
37 esplais and 20 schools will cut streets to fill them with games
This initiative, led by Fundesplai and its federation of leisure centres, It is aimed at leisure centres, educational centres, educational and social organisations… and is cutting and filling the streets with games in each municipality, reproducing the famous cartoon by the Italian pedagogue and cartoonist Francesco Tonnucci, as a symbolic gesture and vindicating the educational value of leisure.
In the actions that have been developed between November 20 and this weekend participate 37 esplais and 20 schools where Fundesplai is present through canteens, extracurricular activities … Other youth and social organizations outside Catalonia will also participate by organizing various events in their cities: in total, about 10,500 children.
