The president of the Fundació Catalana del Esplai, Josep Gassó, received on June 4 from the hands of the Minister of the Environment and Housing, Francesc Baltasar, the honorary mention of the Environment Award 2008 in the category Best Research, Development and Innovation Project aimed at mitigating Climate Change, by ESPLAI CENTERThe ecological and sustainable building, headquarters of the Fundació Catalana del Esplai in El Prat de Llobregat.
This distinction, awarded since 2006 by the Generalitat de Catalunya, aims to publicly recognize the work of individuals, entities or institutions in favor of the environment in our country. A total of 17 awards were distributed in three categories: Research, innovation and development; Environmental protection and improvement, highlighting a singular action and a track record; and Waste reduction and recycling actions.
The jury has considered the contribution and commitment to research of the Fundació Catalana de l’Esplai, since we have made available to the universities (UPC and La Salle) and the Administration, the equipment of
Esplai CenterThe objective is to allow the different research teams to carefully monitor the building’s consumption through a domotic system and, at the same time, to communicate and use it for educational activities.
