The founder and director of Open Arms, Òscar Camps, visited the headquarters of Fundesplai in El Prat de Llobregat on 10 May. At the meeting, Camps met with Josep Gassó , president of Fundesplai, and other members of the entity’s board of trustees.

During the visit, the representatives of both organizations shared the challenges of humanity, coexistence and sustainability of the planet, a sign of the need to continue working for people’s rights and to improve the environment.

In addition, the representatives of Fundesplaiwere able to explain to Camps the main lines of action that the entity always carries out from solidarity, utopia and activism to make a better world. These are values that both entities share and work from their fields. The visit also served to reflect on the future that we all want to build and what role third sector entities can play, also for the promotion of activists and committed people.

During the visit to Centre Esplai, the founder and director of Open Arms was also able to see the exhibition ‘Eat. Acts. Impact‘, on healthy and sustainable eating, and the expansion of facilities that have made it possible to respond to the needs of people in vulnerable situations, such as welcoming refugee families from the war in Ukraine.

The visit of Òscar Camps was a very enriching meeting that will surely entail joint actions in the future. Fundesplai is currently supporting different campaigns and educational activities carried out by Open Arms, an organisation that works to protect migrants and refugees at sea.
