On the occasion of celebrating the World Environmental Education Day<\/strong><\/a>, the EUKI project “Climate Action to the Table<\/strong> ” organises the talk “School Agroecology: realities, challenges and perspectives”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The meeting will be attended by Montse Escutia, an agronomist specialising in ecological agriculture and coordinator of the training activities<\/strong> of the Vida Sana<\/strong><\/a> Association<\/strong>, and Germ\u00e1n Llerena, an environmental educator from the Environment Department of the Sant Cugat Town Council (Barcelona)<\/strong>. Both are authors of several reference publications on agroecology in schools.              <\/p>\n

The key points to be discussed will be the new approaches to school agroecology as an educational proposal<\/strong> -considering the main challenges related to the transformation of the school food system- based on real projects and experiences in schools<\/strong>. The importance of contact with local farmers<\/strong>, why to do so and how to take advantage of it from the school garden itself will also be highlighted.<\/p>\n

School agroecology, understood as a field of education research and action, promotes the involvement of children and young people in the transformation of the school food system<\/strong>, considering its different stages (production, transformation, commercialisation\/exchange, consumption, and waste management)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
