A few days earlier, on April 1, it was the Faculty of Philosophy and Educational Sciences of the University of Valencia that hosted the second of these territorial debates, which began on February 4 in Barcelona. Nearly 60 representatives of social organizations, academia, public administration, political parties and trade unions participated in the session held in Valencia.<\/p>\n<p>The debate was chaired by Imma Mayol, Carles Barba and Nieves Dios, from the Esplai Foundation, and included the intervention of Fernando Marhuenda, professor at the Faculty of Education Sciences. U.V. Novaterra Foundation, who stressed the need for civil society to take the initiative and not go with the flow. Subsequently, the participants met in working groups to discuss different aspects related to participation, education, etc.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The first of the debates in Barcelona<\/strong><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>The seminar organized in Barcelona on February 4 brought together sixty political, trade union and association leaders and experts. The meeting, which took place at the Palau Macaya (Barcelona) of the Fundaci\u00f3 la Caixa, was opened by Joaquim Brugu\u00e9, professor of Political Science and director of the IGOP of the UAB, and Carles Barba, vice-president of the Foundation, who gave way to group work.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/><strong>Online and face-to-face debate to improve democracy<\/strong><br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>These sessions are part of the process of collective construction of the collection Documents for Debate on citizenship that the Advisory Council of the Esplai Foundation, at the national level, promotes throughout Spain.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>The debate, which began on October 3 with two contributions by I\u00f1aki Gabilondo and Josep Ramoneda, has continued in a virtual forum during November and December on the www.ciudadaniaycalidaddemocratica.org website. The face-to-face debates that will be inaugurated on Tuesday, April 4, are based on the contents elaborated to date and are intended to elaborate proposals for the improvement of democracy in our country.
